Mrgani is a small and picturesque village in the municipality of Kanfanar in central Istria, located on the northern side of the Lim Channel at about 200 meters above sea level. The village has a very small population – only around 24 inhabitants live there
The history of Mrgani dates back to the 16th and 17th centuries, and the name of the village derives from the surname Morgan, first mentioned in this area in the early 17th century. The locals traditionally engaged in agriculture, and today the village holds ambient value as a preserved rural settlement. The surrounding area is rich in nature, forests, olive groves, vineyards and fields, which together with the Mediterranean climate make Mrgani ideal for a peaceful, nature-filled holiday or rural tourism. Mrgani is practically in the heart of Istria, close to major tourist centers such as Rovinj and Kanfanar, and only a few minutes’ drive from the Lim Channel – one of the most beautiful natural attractions in Istria. In the village of Mrgani, just 290 meters away, you will find the traditional tavern Konoba Mrgani 42. Simple, uncomplicated, friendly and very delicious. For sports enthusiasts: the surrounding landscape is perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, road cycling, canoeing and horseback riding. Marked cycling and hiking trails start right at your doorstep and lead all the way to the sea.
